PACKAGING FOR LITHIUM BATTERIES
We supply a wide range of UN-certified approved lithium battery packaging and it’s crucial to follow these standards for safe transport. The increasing number of lithium batteries (for power generation, communications, industry and vehicles, for example) are a new type of fire hazard where fire protection is a challenge. To prevent safety-critical situations, multiple levels of defense are required to minimize and control the serious consequences of a lithium battery failure and thermal runaway. Berlin Packaging Dangerous Goods can supply you with all kinds of packaging solutions for ‘metal’ and ‘ion’ lithium batteries. New in our range are four standard sizes of of UN certified packaging for lithium batteries. These standard boxes can be used for all modes of transport.
Additional to the standard sizes we suppy tailor made UN fibreboard boxes, which will be developed and based on your battery sizes, specifications and preferred filling material. We take care of the whole process of designing, printing, testing and certification of the box, all in close cooperations with the customer.

P908 for damaged batteries
For damaged lithium batteries ADR packing instruction P908 is required. Special for this category a packaging is developed with non-combustible and non-conductive isolation/pillow. The various applied technologies, in combination with the fire-resistant packaging, offer the possibility to stop the occurrence and spread of a thermal runaway and thus significantly limit the total damage. Please contact us to ensure that your (damaged) batteries are packed in a safe way.
In addition to the packaging mentioned above, we have developed our own packaging series for the transport and storage of (defective) lithium batteries. Visit www.buncker.com for all our packaging solutions for safe storage and transport of (damages) batteries.
UN testing services
All our packaging for lithium batteries has been tested and provided with UN certification. This certification ensures that the product has passed a worst-case scenario fire testing, leak testing and drop testing and evaluation to ensure its effectiveness in containing and preventing hazards associated with lithium batteries. We do this so that you are assured of good packaging for your hazardous substances. Read more about our testing services or contact us to provide your packaging with the correct UN quality marks.
VARIOUS INDUSTRIES
All our packaging is tested. The UN certification is an important aspect of packaging for dangerous goods, as it indicates that the packaging meets the safety standards set by the United Nations for transport of Dangerous Goods. This certification ensures that the product for example has passed a worst-case scenario fire testing, leak testing and drop testing and evaluation to ensure its effectiveness in containing and preventing hazards associated with lithium batteries. It’s essential to follow specific guidelines and regulations established for the safe transportation and storage of these hazardous materials.
