BARRIER PACKAGING
Berlin Packaging can supply a wide range of barrier packaging. A prime example of the benefit of barrier packaging is its suitability for the containment of solvent based products. The in-line fluoridation process of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) bottles is carried out during the production process by blowing in a mixture of air and fluorine. The fluorine bonds with the polyethylene and creates a barrier. The fluorine barrier prevents the occurrence of diffusion i.e. the mixing of the contained product with the polyethylene in the packaging material. The fluorine barrier also prevents permeation, where there is a tendency for the contents to seep through the packaging.
Barrier packaging is often used for chemical and agrarian products, like paint, ink, glue and varnish. But we supply also barrier packaging for oil-related fluids, cleaning products, foodstuffs, fragrance and flavour substances. You can always contact us for information about barrier packaging.
UN CERTIFIED BARRIER PACKAGING
We at Berlin Packaging supply a standard range of UN certified barrier packaging for the transportation of dangerous goods. Our standard barrier packaging is available in a wide range of configurations, including our advanced in mold fluorination technology. In addition to the standard range, we can also supply customized barrier packaging with UN certification. We can customize our products for superior protection against corrosion and aggressive chemicals and extreme heat and cold. Our products may be engineered to be rinseable, traceable, or otherwise constructed to your exact specification. BARRIER PACKAGING FROM PCR MATERIAL
At Berlin Packaging, also when it comes to barrier packaging, we are dedicated to increasing sustainability. As the global push for more environment-friendly packaging solutions continues, the availability and quality of PCR resin is improving. The result is that we can supply UN-certified barrier packaging with up to 50% PCR-material. These containers are fully compatible with natural and colored HDPE recycling streams. Deep polymer technology understanding enables us to deliver light weight and durable containers. The multilayer capability enables inclusion of recycled HDPE– up to 50% in UN certified containers.
